If this car rear-ended someone… would that be like getting your ass kicked?

Too cool

I said I was going to make up my own Photo A Day meme for March. Here’s what I came up with. If you think it sucks, that’s cool.
I thought it would be interesting to pick daily themes that are more intangible than concrete. The idea is to have everyone thinking of that emotion throughout the day and noticing where it presents itself in their daily life. It might be challenging, but I think it’s a pretty interesting challenge.
If you like it, feel free to reblog/repost/etc.
Sounds like fun!

Grand Canyon Panorama
I finally stitched together 6 of the pictures to create this panorama. Just posting a link because I think this one shows up better on flickr’s page.
Dad and I woke up at 5:30 AM. By 6:00 we were on the dark, icy road leading to the Grand Canyon’s South Entrance. California drivers rarely have the opportunity to drive in these conditions. But undeterred, we trudged on slowly into the darkness.
Originally we had planned to go to Hopi Point, an outlook that has a reputation for being a great place to catch the sunrise or sunset. Due to the weather, the road was closed. We decided to head off towards the next outlook, Yavapai.
By the time we reached Yavapi Point, the sky had started to lighten from a pitch black to a dark blue. The path towards the outlook point was dimly lit. As I walked towards it, I looked to my left. I couldn’t see any detail, but the vast open black space told me I was walking along the south rim. It was like staring into an abyss.
Once I set up at the very tip of the outlook point, I waited. Dad and I had arrived almost 45 minutes before sunrise. I waited in the darkness. As the minutes passed, I could begin to make out the shapes of the canyon below. And finally, as the sunlight peeked over the horizon, the large shadow that had draped this gigantic hole began to pull away to reveal the colors of this Grand Canyon.

One of the pictures I took today at the Grand Canyon. It was freezing there. Dad and I woke up at 5:30 AM and slowly drove into the park on icy roads. Initially I had hoped to go to Hopi Point, but the road was closed due to the weather. So we went to Yavapai instead. Here is one of the pictures I took shortly after the sun starting peaking over the horizon. Click the image for the rest of the set.
I’m thinking I may get a print made of this one…

Sunrise at the Grand Canyon. Taken on my iPhone.
An AZ sunset taken with my iPhone at a rest area.
While flying home from Dayton, I stopped over in Atlanta. Midway through the flight the pilot announced that we were flying over Louisville, KY and I looked outside the window and saw this. Louisville from 30,000 ft, at night, through the clouds…

A friend of mine has launched a line of bow ties. You can check them out at BatikBowtie.com. He asked me to help taking some photos for him. We used another friend of ours, my sister, and his little nephew to help model them.
This has been my Friday night. Editing/processing photos from that shoot. Here are a few of them.
